Symphyotrichum squamatum (Spreng.) G.L. Nesom συνώνυμο: Aster squamatus (Spreng.) Hieron.
Erect, glabrous annual, 25–80 cm tall, much-branched above with slender, suberect branches. Lower leaves oblanceolate, the upper linear. Capitula numerous; peduncles generally 4–10 mm, slender, with scale-like leaves. Involucre c. 5 mm, narrowly campanulate. Phyllaries imbricate, oblong, acute, greenish, purple-tipped. Ligules inconspicuous, purplish, not exceeding pappus. Achenes c. 1.5 mm, pale brown, pubescent, with pappus of thin, simple hairs.
